Exciting News in the World of Horse Racing

Trainer Nick Ryan’s stable star, Munhamek, is set to make a highly anticipated appearance in the upcoming Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield on August 17. This comes after Munhamek’s impressive victory in the Listed Winter Championship Series Final, marking his third consecutive win.

“He pulled up super,” Ryan told racing.com, affirming that Munhamek is in excellent condition. “He was at the beach this morning and will head to Fulmen Park for the week,” the trainer revealed, detailing the horse’s preparation for the upcoming race.

The absence of Mr Brightside, who has dominated the Lawrence Stakes for the past two years, is seen as a significant boost to Munhamek’s chances. “No Mr Brightside is a big help,” Ryan noted, acknowledging the impact of his rival’s absence.

Looking ahead, the stable is considering potential runs for Munhamek in the prestigious Toorak or Epsom Handicaps, based on his impressive performances over the 1600m distance. “I’ll speak to the boss, Hutchi, and we’ll come up with a plan,” Ryan added, hinting at the team’s strategic planning for the horse’s future races.

Despite a demanding season, Munhamek has thrived under a strategy of light breaks rather than long spells, an approach that has kept the horse in peak form. Online bookmakers currently list Munhamek at $17 for the Toorak Handicap in October.
