Newmarket Gears Up for My Pension Expert July Cup as Jasour Eyes Redemption
Clive Cox is hopeful of a drier conclusion to the week as his talented grey Jasour prepares for a tilt at the prestigious My Pension Expert July Cup at Newmarket this Saturday. The 4-year-old has shown impressive form this season, most notably with a victory in the Group Three Commonwealth Cup Trial, also known as the Pavilion Stakes, on his seasonal debut in May.
Jasour then went on to contest the Commonwealth Cup itself at Royal Ascot, where he finished a creditable third, just two and a half lengths behind the winner, Inisherin. The grey will face off against Inisherin once again in this weekend’s sprint feature, and with the going currently described as soft, good to soft in places following 29 millimetres of rain in the past 24 hours, Cox is keeping a close eye on the forecast, hoping for drier conditions come race day.
“As the industry eagerly awaits the latest chapter in this exciting rivalry, all eyes will be on the Newmarket showpiece, where Jasour will look to bounce back and claim top honors in the My Pension Expert July Cup.”
