Horse Racing News Update: Coral Stewards’ Cup and Weekend Runners

Our racing columnist shares insights on his stable’s runners across the country this weekend, including three entries in the prestigious Coral Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood.

Coral Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood

At Goodwood’s 15:35 race, Ramazan faces a tough challenge in the £250,000 handicap over six furlongs of quick ground, which the trainer admits may not be the horse’s ideal conditions. However, the sizeable purse is hard to ignore, and the stable is hoping for some much-needed rain to slow the pace.

Stablemate Strike Red also lines up in the Coral Stewards’ Cup, and the trainer would welcome some ease in the ground to suit the horse’s preferences. There are some concerns over how he’ll handle Goodwood’s unique track.

The third Stewards’ Cup runner is Dare To Hope, who the trainer felt ran well when fourth in the Sky Bet Dash at York last week. Goodwood’s galloping nature should suit this strong-traveling individual.

Other Weekend Runners

At Thirsk, the stable sends out She’s Got Spirit, a well-bred filly making her debut. The trainer expects her to improve with experience, as she can be a bit green in her work. Sailthisshipalone, fourth at York last time out, has course form and looks to build on that effort.

The stable is also represented at Doncaster, with Almanjoor donning blinkers in search of a confidence-boosting win, while Classy Clarets and The Ridler aim to build on promising recent displays.

Finally, at Hamilton, Dark Vintage drops in class and the trainer is hopeful the stiff five furlongs will suit this hardy individual.

It promises to be an exciting day of racing action for the stable, with several talented runners across the country.
