Evangeline Downs Racetrack Update: Technical Issues Resolved, Racing to Resume Friday

Opelousas, Louisiana – Evangeline Downs, the premier horse racing destination in Louisiana, encountered a technical hiccup on Thursday evening, leading to the cancellation of its scheduled races. However, the track is now poised to return to action on Friday, March 17th, after resolving the underlying issue.

According to Steward Mark Guidry, the problem stemmed from a fiber optic-related matter, which prevented the proper functioning of the head-on and turf cameras. Technicians were swiftly dispatched to the Louisiana racetrack and are expected to have the system up and running by Friday morning.

“We don’t want to wait till the last minute, like last night,” Guidry said. “We don’t want that to happen again.”

The track had initially announced the cancellation of Thursday’s races due to “unforeseen circumstances” via a text message to Daily Racing Form’s Mary Rampellini.

With the technical difficulties now resolved, Evangeline Downs is set to host a full slate of 10 races on Friday, with post time scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT. The action-packed card will feature six dirt races and four turf races, catering to the diverse preferences of hardcore horse racing enthusiasts.

Fans and bettors alike can look forward to an evening of thrilling Thoroughbred competition at Evangeline Downs, as the Louisiana racetrack resumes its regular schedule and provides the opportunity for a captivating weekend of horse racing.
