Curragh Sensation Red Letter to Take Cautious Approach This Season

In the world of Irish horse racing, the talented filly Red Letter has caught the attention of enthusiasts with her eye-catching performances at the Curragh. Trained by the renowned Ger Lyons and owned by the prestigious Juddmonte operation, this daughter of the mighty Frankel has been the subject of much anticipation.

Red Letter made a striking debut at the Curragh, finishing a narrow second to Aidan O’Brien’s Lake Victoria, with the form of that race receiving a significant boost when the winner went on to triumph in the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket. The filly then returned to the Curragh to open her account, sauntering to a comfortable four-and-a-quarter length victory in impressive fashion.

“She’s looked good and is a lovely filly. She won her maiden in good fashion last time and is a very big filly and very much on the leg. She’s a filly for next year and will possibly have only one more start and a maximum of two this year โ€“ and Ger will decide where they will be in the next couple of weeks.”

– Barry Mahon, Juddmonte’s European racing manager

Despite her early success, the connections of Red Letter are adopting a cautious approach to the remainder of her two-year-old campaign, with an eye towards bigger achievements next season. The team behind Red Letter is keen to allow the filly time to mature and develop, rather than rushing her this year.

“If we were going for a Group Three or similar at the end of the month, it would probably be the ideal scenario and we can see how she can progress then from two to three. She’s a big, big filly and not a filly we will over race this year. She’s obviously got plenty of talent and is doing things naturally off her talent rather than being mature โ€“ she’s not a filly we want to abuse this year, as she is very immature.”

– Barry Mahon

Fans of horse racing can look forward to following the progress of this exciting prospect, as the connections of Red Letter aim to carefully craft a path towards bigger successes in the future.
