Trainer Peter Giadresco Encouraged by Kaptain Kaos’ Promising Trial Performance at Lark Hill
In a promising development for horse racing enthusiasts, trainer Peter Giadresco expressed a more contented demeanor following Kaptain Kaos’ improved trial performance at Lark Hill this morning (Monday).
Facing off against some talented rivals, including Railway Stakes runner-up Alsephina, Kaptain Kaos closed strongly to finish second behind Influencing in the 950m heat. The Demerit gelding settled in fourth place and responded well when jockey Alex Hearn urged him on as they rounded the corner.
Giadresco was in a much better mood compared to Kaptain Kaos’ previous trial at the same course two weeks ago, where the horse finished a distant 12th behind the speedy Acromantula.
“I am feeling a lot better after that trial,” Giadresco said. “I wanted to give him a good hit out and he showed he’s ready to roll.”
The trainer plans to enter Kaptain Kaos in the Idyllic Prince Stakes (1300m) in two weeks, with the eventual goal of targeting the prestigious Railway Stakes.
Influencing, trained by Dan and Ben Pearce, clocked 56.74 seconds in the trial, indicating a promising start to the gelding’s campaign after a breakout run of four wins from five starts earlier this year. Meanwhile, the talented Grant and Alana Williams-trained mare Alsephina settled at the rear of the field, finishing three lengths behind the winner.
Giadresco Takes Over Kaptain Kaos’ Training
Giadresco, who has reduced the number of horses in his stable, took over the training of Kaptain Kaos after the horse’s previous trainers, Trevor Roche, Michael Grantham, and Lindsey Smith. Under Grantham’s guidance, Kaptain Kaos achieved career highs, including victories in the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) and the Listed Northam Cup (1600m).
With this encouraging trial performance, Kaptain Kaos appears primed to make a strong comeback under Giadresco’s direction and potentially challenge for the coveted Railway Stakes.
