Horse Racing News Update: Top Contenders Return to the Work Tab Ahead of Upcoming Races
In the latest update from the horse racing world, several top contenders made their return to the work tab on Monday, preparing for their next big races.
Muth, the Bob Baffert-trained son of Good Magic, worked four furlongs in 47.8 seconds at Santa Anita. Muth, a two-time Grade 1 winner having captured the 2023 American Pharoah Stakes and the 2024 Arkansas Derby, was scratched from the Preakness Stakes due to a fever but is now back on track.
Baffert also worked his Grade 1-winning turf horse Du Jour, a 6-year-old Temple City gelding, who drilled four furlongs in 49.6 seconds over the all-weather training track at Santa Anita. Du Jour most recently finished third behind Johannes in the Shoemaker Mile (G1) on May 27 but broke through at the top level two starts back when he won the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1).
In addition to Muth and Du Jour, a total of 23 graded stakes winners were reported to have worked across the United States on Monday morning, providing an exciting glimpse into the preparations of some of the sport’s top equine athletes.
