Horse Racing News Update: Tracks Adjust Post Times Ahead of Extreme Heat
In response to the forecasted extreme heat in the region, two prominent horse racing tracks, Finger Lakes and Presque Isle Downs, have announced adjustments to their post times for the upcoming week.
Presque Isle Downs
Presque Isle Downs, located in Erie, Pennsylvania, has announced that it will be changing its post time to 1 p.m. EDT for Monday, June 17th through Wednesday, June 19th. This adjustment comes as the National Weather Service predicts high temperatures of 83 degrees on Monday and 85 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. The track will resume its regular 3 p.m. post time starting Monday, June 24th.
Finger Lakes
Similarly, Finger Lakes, situated in Farmington, New York, has also altered its post times for Tuesday and Wednesday to an earlier 11:15 a.m. EDT start, moving from the previously scheduled 1:15 p.m. The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures of 96 degrees on Monday, 94 on Tuesday, and 95 on Wednesday for the Finger Lakes region.
“These proactive measures taken by the two racetracks aim to ensure the safety and well-being of the horses, jockeys, and racing enthusiasts during the expected extreme heat conditions.”
