At Churchill Downs on Thursday, all eyes will be on Islander, a $1.5 million yearling filly sired by the legendary Gun Runner. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the same barn as her sire, Islander will be embarking on her career in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race.

Another exciting prospect making his debut on Friday at Churchill Downs is Most Wanted, a half-sibling to the brilliant Life Is Good, the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and Pegasus World Cup (G1) winner. Trained by Brad Cox, this Candy Ride colt will be stretching out to seven furlongs on the dirt.

Promising Pedigrees and Debut Performances

Continuing the theme of high-profile pedigrees, Sharedashenanigans, the first foal of 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf champion Sharing, is set to make her career debut on Saturday at Laurel Park. Trained by Graham Motion, this filly by Into Mischief will be tackling five furlongs on the dirt.

Fans of champion Good Magic will have their eyes on Penny Royal, his full-sister, as she makes her second start, stretching out to 1 1/16 miles at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

In recent results, the talk of the town has been Mentee, the full brother of stakes winner Fierceness, who set a track record at Belmont at Aqueduct, sprinting five furlongs in a blistering 56.97 seconds. Another impressive debut came from Complexion, the half-sister to the talented Jack Christopher, who effortlessly won her maiden at Belmont at Aqueduct.
