Exciting Canada Day Weekend of Horse Racing Action Ahead

In the heartland of American racing, Churchill Downs will host the prestigious Grade 1 Stephen Foster Stakes day on Saturday, followed by a mandatory payout on the Pick 6 on closing day Sunday. Woodbine’s Canada Day Stakes Extravaganza
But Shutty’s biggest targets this weekend might just be north of the border at Woodbine. The Canada Day card on Saturday features a quintet of stakes races, and Shutty has identified a pair of high-priced value plays that could be the keys to unlocking hefty payouts.
“This very consistent mare that has finished in the exacta ten times over 16 grass starts and has not missed the superfecta over her last 10 starts won’t miss it here either,” Shutty writes. “She moved to the barn of Marty Drexler earlier this year and in just two starts finished second in her seasonal debut before winning the Modesty Stakes on the Kentucky Oaks undercard at Churchill Downs. She moved forward in that start and following the short break and cut back in distance, she’ll take another move forward here.”
The most intriguing of these is the Nassau Stakes (G2), the final race on the Woodbine card. Last year’s winner, Fev Rover, went on to capture a pair of Grade 1 victories, but Shutty isn’t convinced she’ll repeat. Instead, he’s touting Fast as Flight, a 6-1 morning line choice, as the top win contender and most reliable board hitter.
