NEWMARKET STAR EYES FALMOUTH STAKES GLORY
(Newmarket, [Current Date]) – In the latest edition of the Horse Racing News, all eyes are on the upcoming Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, where the exciting filly from the John and Thady Gosden stable is poised to make her mark.
The Gosden-trained star, who followed up her neck second-place finish in the 1000 Guineas with a commanding victory in the Coronation Stakes, is set to head back to Newmarket in search of another Group One triumph next Friday. As the trainer noted, “She’s very good and is in great form. She’s only done one bit of work since but is moving great and we’re very happy with her. At the minute, we’re thinking of going to the Falmouth next Friday, so that’s the plan.“
USDI ATOHI SPRINGS UPSET
Elsewhere on the racing circuit, Usdi Atohi sprung a surprise in the five-furlong Listed event, edging out Andrew Slattery’s Powerful Nation under the guidance of jockey Gavin Ryan. Despite being a 20/1 outsider, the winner had previously featured in group company behind the impressive Royal Ascot scorer Fairy Godmother, and fittingly, she is a daughter of the horse the race is named after, Ten Sovereigns. Trainer Aidan O’Brien was pleased with the result, saying, “We thought she was a good filly and the form of her maiden worked out very well. This looked a competitive race but thankfully she’s bounced back to form.“
SHE’S QUALITY STAMPS HER CLASS
In another noteworthy performance, She’s Quality appeared to have earned herself a return to deeper waters with a commanding victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race. The daughter of Acclamation, trained by Jack Davison, was deemed good enough to compete in Group One company as a juvenile and has been keeping busy in the early part of 2024, with a placed effort at Listed level behind Cherry Blossom a notable highlight. Sent off as the 4/9 favourite for the opener, she proved once again that she is expertly named when following up her recent Down Royal handicap triumph in supreme style. Davison is now eyeing a return to group company for the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes on July 20.
SURPASS SHOWS PROMISE
In other news, Surpass, the son of Saxon Warrior trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, looked like a promising prospect when storming home in the Glenvale Stud Race over seven and a half furlongs. After a somewhat greenish debut, the colt put in a much more convincing display this time, forging clear at the furlong pole and staying on strongly to see off Dakota Blue by three lengths.
With so much excitement in the world of horse racing, enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the upcoming Falmouth Stakes and the continued success of these talented equine athletes.
