Horse Racing News Update: Muth, Kentucky Derby Hopeful, Back on the Work Tab

Muth, the morning-line favorite for the Preakness Stakes who was scratched after spiking a fever, was back on the work tab at Santa Anita Park on Thursday, clocking a half-mile in 48.0 seconds. The $2 million colt, owned by Zedan Racing Stables and trained by Bob Baffert, had previously worked five furlongs in 1:02.4 on the Tapeta training track last week.

Baffert has not yet declared a next race for Muth, a two-time Grade 1 winner whose long-term target is the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November at Del Mar. The son of Good Magic won the Arkansas Derby (G1) in his last start on March 30 at Oaklawn Park.
