Porta Fortuna Headlining Stacked Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes
The prestigious Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse is set to feature a top-class field on Friday, with Porta Fortuna leading the charge.
Trainer Donnacha O’Brien’s charge has been in excellent form, finishing second in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on her seasonal return before impressively winning the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Facing Porta Fortuna will be a maximum of eight rivals, including A Lilac Rolla, who finished second in the Irish 1000 Guineas for trainer Paddy Twomey. The Irish challenge is further bolstered by Joseph O’Brien’s runners Gregarina and Rogue Millenium, as well as the Adrian Murray-trained Magical Sunset.
The home defense is led by Duke Of Cambridge, who will be looking to build on her recent first and third-place finishes, as well as the John O’Gaunt runner-up Sirona, who represents the David Menuisier stable. The field is completed by the recent Listed winner Jabara.
Duchess of Cambridge Stakes
In the supporting Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, a field of 16 has been assembled, including the Queen Marry third Maw Lam and the Albany third and fourth, Heaven’s Gate and Mountain Breeze. The Empress Stakes winner Celandine and the promising Babouche, who won impressively on debut for Ger Lyons and Juddmonte, are also set to feature.
