Horse Racing News Update: Al Aasy Triumphs in Coral Glorious Stakes at Goodwood

Al Aasy Emerges Victorious at Goodwood

In an exciting race at the Goodwood Racecourse, Al Aasy, ridden by Jim Crowley, emerged victorious in the Group Three Coral Glorious Stakes. The William Haggas-trained horse found an opening up the rail in the closing stages to edge past the frontrunner, Relentless Voyager, and win by a length.

“Once he was in there, it was game over really. He’s just as good over ten furlongs as he is over a mile-and-a-half,” said Crowley, praising the horse’s bravery.

Oisin Murphy had set the pace aboard Relentless Voyager, stacking up the field, but as the leader drifted away from the rail, Crowley and Al Aasy seized the opportunity to surge past and claim the win.

Experienced Horses Vital for Top Meetings

Angus Gold, the racing manager for winning owners Shadwell Estate Company, acknowledged the importance of having experienced horses like Al Aasy competing at the top level.

“It shows you how important it is to have these older horses in training. We need these horses to be competing at the bigger meetings,” he said.

Despite the tight finish, Murphy was pleased with the runner-up’s performance, stating, “It was a career best from Relentless Voyager, so I’m very pleased.”

Al Aasy’s Impressive Resume

The victory adds to Al Aasy’s impressive resume, having now earned close to £400,000 in prize money. Trainer William Haggas has always held the horse in high regard, and this win reinforces the belief that Al Aasy is a class act on the turf.
