Horse Racing Update: Anmaat Primed for Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes Comeback
Eagerly anticipated racehorse Anmaat is set to make his long-awaited return to action this Saturday in the prestigious Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock Park. The six-year-old, trained by the talented Owen Burrows, last tasted victory in the Group One Prix d’Ispahan in May 2023.
Burrows expressed his delight at Anmaat’s impending comeback, saying,
“All being well, he’s going to run. We’ve had this in mind for him for a bit now, so fingers crossed we don’t have any last-minute hiccups. It will be nice to get him back.”
The trainer was particularly impressed with Anmaat’s work leading up to last year’s Eclipse, stating,
“His form has really worked out. He worked the Saturday before last year’s Eclipse and worked the best I’ve seen him work.”
Despite facing formidable opponents like Paddington and Emily Upjohn, Burrows believed Anmaat would have put in a strong performance.
Burrows acknowledged that Anmaat’s lengthy absence from the track, due to a “very complex foot issue,” has been a concern, but he is confident the horse is now ready to return to the racecourse. The trainer noted that the forecast for good ground at Haydock will suit Anmaat perfectly, as he does not thrive on very fast conditions.
With Anmaat’s impressive track record and the support of his experienced trainer, racing enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate his comeback in the Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes this Saturday.
