Exciting Horse Racing Updates: Arabian Summer Set for Group 3 Quezette Stakes Tilt

Arabian Summer, the talented filly trained by the McEvoy stable, has been a standout performer on the racetrack this season, thanks to some lucrative prize money on offer from the Magic Millions carnival. Now, the trainers are eyeing more Magic Millions glory in the new year, but first, they have their sights set on an early spring assignment in Melbourne.

This Saturday, Arabian Summer will take her place in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, a race that could see the filly become a Black Type winner, rather than a dual Black Type placegetter. After finishing in the placings in her first two starts at Caulfield and Flemington, Arabian Summer bounced back to claim the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Ballarat in December.

Following a warm-up race win at the Gold Coast, Arabian Summer had a fifth-place finish in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the same venue. After a spell, the filly returned to claim a new Magic Millions race at Doomben in May before heading back to Melbourne.

“Seeking a Black Type victory before the end of her two-year-old season, Arabian Summer was sent to Adelaide for the Listed Lightning Stakes at Morphettville on July 27, but was ultimately scratched at the barrier. Trainer Tony McEvoy described the incident as a ‘tragedy’ for the high-strung filly.”

Now, the focus is firmly on the Quezette Stakes, with McEvoy indicating that Arabian Summer may have a couple more starts before a freshen-up. The trainers also have their eyes on a new race at the Magic Millions Carnival in January, the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight, a slot race restricted to 12 runners.

Stable star Sunlight, a former Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner and Group 1 champion, is also on the radar for the McEvoy team as they look to add more Magic Millions riches to their tally in the new year.
