14:30 Ascot – Fairy Godmother

After a narrow defeat on debut, Fairy Godmother reversed the form with the winner Sparkling Sea in a recent Group 3 triumph at Naas. The filly impressed with her performance, overcoming some in-running trouble. While the 2-year-old field remains largely unexposed, Fairy Godmother appears to be the one to beat based on her latest victory. However, the respected challenger Mountain Breeze will also demand respect in this competitive contest. Heavens Gate, who was considered for the Queen Mary on Wednesday, should not be discounted either.

15:05 Ascot – Military

The gelding has produced solid efforts in his last two starts but may find the opposition a significant challenge here based on their recent showings. Nevertheless, Military’s good record on fast ground and relative inexperience, having just 6 career starts, could work in his favor as he attempts to pull off a surprise.

15:45 Ascot – Opera Singer

The filly has a strong chance in this exceptionally deep race, which features the Newmarket 1-2-3, the French Guineas winner, and other top contenders. Opera Singer’s much-needed reappearance run at the Curragh was pleasing, and connections are hopeful of seeing the same dominant form that secured the Boussac triumph. If the star filly reproduces that level of performance, a big run can be expected, though the competition is fierce.

“If the star filly reproduces that level of performance, a big run can be expected, though the competition is fierce.”

16:25 Ascot – Ethical Diamond

The smart novice hurdler comes here after just missing out at Leopardstown last time on the Flat. The step up to 1m4f is expected to suit, and despite a 5lb higher mark, Ethical Diamond appears to hold solid claims in this competitive race.

17:05 Ascot – Everlasting

Flight Of Fancy produced a career-best last time and holds obvious claims, even with a 4lb rise. Everlasting took advantage of a drop in class to win at Navan last time, and the application of first-time blinkers is hoped to sharpen the mare up further. Her mark of 102 gives her a realistic chance in this contest.

17:40 Ascot – Diego Velazquez

In an open race, Chief Little Rock and Diego Velazquez appear to have the strongest form credentials. Chief Little Rock was impressive when leading all the way over 1m2f at the Curragh, and the step up in trip should suit. Diego Velazquez, despite a below-par effort in the French Derby last time, finished an excellent fourth in their Guineas and can be expected to bounce back. Agenda’s recent Chester performance also commands respect in this wide-open affair.

18:15 Ascot – Sommelier

The jockey is making his first ride on Sommelier, who ran well when finishing second to Big Evs at York last time. A mark of 99 based on that evidence appears fair, and the gelding will be looking to build on that promising performance.
