Horse Racing News Update: Jockey Blake Shinn Secures Top Ride on C’est Magique After James McDonald’s Withdrawal
In a late development in the lead-up to the prestigious Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara race at Eagle Farm this weekend, jockey Blake Shinn has secured a prime mount after James McDonald’s withdrawal due to a mystery stomach issue.
McDonald, who was initially slated to ride the Chris Waller-trained mare C’est Magique, a $1.7 million Coolmore-owned contender, has been hospitalized, prompting Shinn to take over the ride. C’est Magique is currently the $7 second favorite in the $700,000 feature event, posing a significant challenge to the favorite, Bella Nipotina.
“Shinn, who was initially scheduled to ride Mike Moroney’s Coeur Volante, has now been freed up to pilot the talented C’est Magique in her second start for the Waller stable.”
McDonald’s absence also affects the Group 3 Healy Stakes, where he was set to ride Tony Gollan’s favorite, All That Pizzazz.
The Tattersall’s Tiara promises to be an exciting and highly competitive race, with C’est Magique’s strong credentials under the guidance of the experienced jockey Blake Shinn sure to attract considerable attention from racing enthusiasts.
