Belmont Oaks Invitational Attracts Competitive Field for Fillies’ Turf Test

The Grade 1, $500,000 Belmont Oaks Invitational is set to take place this Saturday, July 6th, at Aqueduct Racetrack. As the first leg of the fillies’ version of the New York Turf Triple, this prestigious event has drawn a field of nine talented three-year-old turf fillies from the US and abroad.

Competitive Nature Remains Despite Location Change

Though the race has been relocated from its usual Belmont Park home due to ongoing construction, the competitive nature of the Belmont Oaks remains unchanged. The distance has been slightly shortened to 1 3/16 miles, down from the traditional 1 1/4 miles, but the race is still expected to produce an exciting battle for the top prize.

The New York Turf Triple for Fillies

The New York Turf Triple for fillies will continue at Saratoga Race Course on August 2nd with the Saratoga Oaks (G1), before concluding in September at Aqueduct with the Jockey Club Oaks. No filly has swept all three races, though Concrete Rose accomplished the feat of winning the first two legs in 2019, and McKulick won the first and third in 2022.

Leading Contenders for the 2024 Belmont Oaks

Among the leading contenders for the 2024 Belmont Oaks are Chad Brown’s duo of Dynamic Pricing and Segesta, Cherie DeVaux’s Hilltop Stakes winner She Feels Pretty, and the European invaders Fun With Flags and Cinderella’s Dream. The race also features a rematch between the top two finishers of the local prep, the Wonder Again Stakes (G2) – winner Segesta and runner-up Sy B.

“With the potential for give in the turf due to expected rainfall, the distance and pace dynamics of the race could play a key role in determining the winner of this prestigious event.”

Racing enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating an exciting renewal of the Belmont Oaks Invitational this Saturday afternoon at Aqueduct.
