Horse Racing News Update: Grade 1 Winner Chili Flag Returns to Workouts at Saratoga

Chili Flag, who joined the ranks of top-level winners when she led home a Chad Brown-trained exacta in the Grade 1 Just a Game on June 7, returned to work Friday for the first time since that race. She went four furlongs in 50.88 seconds over the dirt training track at Saratoga.

Though Chili Flag ran off the board in the Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G2) in her graded-stakes debut, she has since won three straight starts in graded company. This latest victory in the Just a Game (G1) cemented her status as a rising star in the turf division.

Other Notable Workouts

Another notable workout came from Grade 1 winner Candied, who put in a four-furlong breeze in 49.77 seconds at Saratoga. The Todd Pletcher trainee was last seen winning the Lady’s Secret Stakes at Monmouth Park on June 8, her first victory since taking the Alcibiades (G1) at Keeneland in October.

In total, 51 graded stakes winners from across North America were spotted breezing on Friday morning as they continue their preparations for upcoming summer and fall engagements. Highlights included multiple Grade 1 victors like Casa Creed, Program Trading, War Like Goddess, and Fierceness, among many others.

“The flurry of activity underscores the deep talent pool currently on display in the world of horse racing. Fans are encouraged to keep a close eye on the HRN stakes schedule, tracker, and results pages to stay up to date on all the latest news and developments.”
