Horse Racing News: City of Troy Tied for Second in World Rankings
In the latest rankings of the world’s best racehorses, City of Troy, the winner of the Derby at Epsom, has moved into a tie for second place. The rankings are compiled by the world’s best racehorse rankings committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
Retaining the top spot is Laurel River, the Juddmonte homebred who won the prestigious Dubai World Cup (G1) in his last outing. Tied for second place with City of Troy is Rebel’s Romance, the winner of four consecutive races, including the Champions & Chater Cup (G1) at Sha Tin and the Dubai Sheema Classic (G1).
The highest-ranked U.S.-based horses are National Treasure, the victor of the Met Mile (G1), and Señor Buscador, the Saudi Cup (G1) winner. Both are tied for fourth place along with several other distinguished performers.
This latest update in the world’s best racehorse rankings highlights the global nature of the sport and the exceptional talent currently on display in the world of thoroughbred racing.
