HORSE RACING NEWS: De Bromhead Secures Group Two Victory at Goodwood

Goodwood Triumph for Term Of Endearment

Goodwood – Renowned Irish trainer Henry De Bromhead notched a significant Flat racing triumph as Term Of Endearment (15/2) won the Group Two Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes at the prestigious Goodwood Festival.

Under the guidance of jockey Billy Lee, the Irish raider delivered a strong staying performance, leading the field down the center of the track and holding off a late challenge from Night Sparkle (8/1) to secure a three-quarter-length victory. River Of Stars finished third, while the 11/4 favorite Free Wind failed to threaten, never challenging after being held up until the two-furlong marker.

“Term Of Endearment may be improving, with the possibility of stepping up in distance to two miles not out of reach.”

In a post-race interview with ITV Racing, the winning rider Lee praised Term Of Endearment’s jumping ability and rhythm throughout the race. He noted that his only concern was the quickest ground the mare had encountered, but she “cruised into the race” and galloped all the way to the line.

Lee suggested that Term Of Endearment may be improving, with the possibility of stepping up in distance to two miles not out of reach. De Bromhead, the victorious trainer, expressed his delight at having his first runner at Goodwood, where the team has been “well looked after” and enjoyed a “great day.”

The trainer also commented on the mare’s improved ability to settle closer to the pace, stating that the softer ground in the past may have been more to bring out her stamina rather than a necessity. De Bromhead stated that all options are open for Term Of Endearment, including the Irish St Leger and a potential race at York.

This triumph for Henry De Bromhead and Term Of Endearment adds to the trainer’s growing list of successes, cementing his status as a leading force in the world of Flat racing.
