Horse Racing News Update: Emma-Jayne Wilson Chases Hall of Fame Jockey Julie Krone’s Earnings Record
Woodbine – Renowned jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson is on the verge of making history as she closes in on Hall of Famer Julie Krone’s all-time purse earnings record for female riders. Going into Saturday’s race card, Wilson is just $30,829 away from surpassing Krone’s impressive mark of $90,126,584 in career earnings.
Wilson, who famously recorded a historic triumph in the 2007 King’s Plate aboard Mike Fox, has been a dominant force in the sport for years. Krone, who retired in 2004, was the first woman inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame and the first female jockey to win a Breeders’ Cup race, among her 3,704 career victories.
“It’s awesome to see Emma-Jayne closing in on my earnings record,” said Krone. “Her success on the racetrack is a testament to her talent and dedication, and I’m honored to have her chasing my mark. She’s an inspiration to many in the sport.”
Early in her career, Wilson had the opportunity to speak with the legendary Krone, who she praised as “a first-class person” and an “inspiration” to herself and countless others in the industry.
Upcoming Race Card
This Saturday at Woodbine, Wilson has a full slate of six mounts, including the promising Unifying in the Hendrie Stakes (G3). Fans and industry insiders will be closely watching as Wilson continues her pursuit of the prestigious earnings record.
