Coral-Eclipse Contender White Birch Undergoes Pre-Race Assessments

Connections of the impressive Tattersalls Gold Cup winner White Birch are closely monitoring the horse’s condition ahead of a potential run in the upcoming Coral-Eclipse. According to assistant trainer George Murphy, the decision to withdraw the horse from the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last month was not due to the quick ground conditions, but rather concerns over the horse’s bloodwork.

“The horse seems to be in super form. As I said at the time, his bloodwork wasn’t great going into Royal Ascot, so we want to do right by the horse and don’t want to be running him bar when he’s in tip-top shape.”

Speaking on the Nick Luck Daily Podcast, Murphy revealed that White Birch will undergo a series of pre-race evaluations on Wednesday morning, including a breeze, blood tests, and a scope. Contrary to some speculation, Murphy insisted that the ground conditions are not an issue for White Birch, who has demonstrated top-class form on ground that was “as fast as you’ll get.” The connections are hopeful that the upcoming assessments will clear the way for the horse to make the trip to Sandown for the Coral-Eclipse, but they want to ensure everything is in order before committing to the race.

“We’re hopeful of running, and he seems in very good order, but it’s down to the vet work tomorrow and seeing that everything is good, the blood comes OK and he scopes well, then hopefully we’ll be making the trip,” Murphy said.

Horseracing enthusiasts will eagerly await the results of White Birch’s pre-race evaluations, as the potential participation of this Tattersalls Gold Cup winner in the prestigious Coral-Eclipse would undoubtedly be a thrilling prospect for the sport.
