Horse Racing News: Richard Fahey Excited About His Two-Year-Old Prospects
Renowned Trainer Richard Fahey is having a standout year with his two-year-old prospects, and he recently provided an inside look at some of the promising youngsters in his stable.
BAMBALAM (FR), a bay colt by Persian King out of the mare Robanne, is an expensive breeze-up purchase that Fahey believes will come into his own later in the season. “He’s a horse more for the backend,” the trainer noted.
Another intriguing prospect is BONNIE’S BOY, a bay colt by Tasleet out of the mare Bonnie Brae. Fahey said the horse had some minor issues when he first arrived but is now starting to relax and will soon begin serious training.
The chestnut colt CATALYSE (IRE), by Starspangledbanner out of Moondrop, won impressively on debut at Hamilton and is now being aimed at Royal Ascot, with potential entries in both the Coventry and Norfolk Stakes.
COLUMNIST, a bay colt by Ardad out of Sand And Deliver, also made a winning debut at Chester and will likely target the Coventry Stakes at the royal meeting.
Fahey is particularly excited about COMANCHE WARRIOR (IRE), a bay colt by Dark Angel out of Elaysa. “This is probably one of the nicest yearlings we bought last year,” he said, noting the horse may run in late summer or early autumn.
Other notable two-year-olds in the Fahey stable include:
- GUNS FIRING (IRE), a bay filly by New Bay out of Sound of Guns
- LOOM (IRE), a bay colt by Kodiac out of Stunner, who is Royal Ascot-bound for either the Windsor Castle or Norfolk Stakes
- SHADOW ARMY, a bay colt by Showcasing out of Marie of Lyon, who made a winning debut at York’s Dante meeting and will have entries in the Windsor Castle and Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot
With so many promising youngsters in his care, Fahey is undoubtedly excited about the potential of his two-year-old team as the upcoming season unfolds. Fans of horse racing can look forward to seeing these talented colts and fillies make their mark on the track in the weeks and months ahead.
