Ezeliya Dominates Epsom Oaks for Aga Khan

In the latest horse racing news, the connections of Epsom Oaks winner Ezeliya remain in no rush to finalize plans for the impressive filly. Trained by the renowned Dermot Weld, the three-year-old daughter of Dubawi delivered a commanding performance, defeating Dance Sequence by three lengths under jockey Chris Hayes.

Owned by the Aga Khan, Ezeliya is currently enjoying a well-deserved break at the owner’s stud, following her classic triumph. Weld commented, “She’s having a break at the moment, back in Gilltown. We’ll see how she comes on and when she comes back, we’ll make a decision.

Elizabeth Jane and Duraji’s Promising Developments

The Rosewell House handler also provided an update on another promising filly in his stable, Elizabeth Jane. The impressive winner of her sole start last October, Elizabeth Jane has been a bit slower to develop this spring, but Weld is pleased with her recent progress. “She’s been very backward this spring, but she’s coming forward nicely. All being well, she’ll run in the Oaks trial at Naas in two weeks’ time,” he said.

In other stable news, Weld was delighted with the performance of Duraji, the full-brother of the impressive Ghaiyyath, who broke his maiden at Leopardstown on Thursday evening. “He’s a nice colt, he’s progressive. He’s still very immature, both mentally and physically. There is a lot of improvement in this horse,” Weld commented.

The trainer was particularly impressed with Duraji’s finishing effort, stating, “Chris said it took him two furlongs to pull him up. He was off the bridle turning for home but the way he finished out really impressed me. I’d say he’s a colt that will enjoy going a mile and a half.

With Ezeliya’s Oaks triumph and the promising developments in the stable, Dermot Weld and the Aga Khan will no doubt be looking forward to the next chapters in their racing campaign.
