Horse Racing News Update: Sir Greylind Scratched from Indiana Derby

(June 30, 2023 – Horseshoe Indianapolis) In a disappointing turn of events for horse racing enthusiasts, it has been announced that the promising 3-year-old colt Sir Greylind will be scratched from this Saturday’s Grade 3 Indiana Derby due to a “minor issue,” according to a news release from Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Trained by the accomplished Grant Forster, Sir Greylind was set to make his stakes debut in the highly anticipated race. The Speightster colt had been impressive in his previous outings, winning his maiden-claiming race debut at Keeneland by 3 1/4 lengths at 13-1 odds in a field of nine. He followed that up with a second-place finish in a starter allowance race at Churchill Downs on May 9 and a dominant 5 1/4-length victory in a starter allowance race at the same venue on May 31.

Sir Greylind is owned by a partnership group consisting of James Colwell, Ryan Chanley, and Post Time Thoroughbreds, which also bred the talented young horse.

In a silver lining for horse racing fans, Forster has also entered Chatalas, the winner of last year’s Chandelier Stakes (G2), in the Indiana Oaks (G3) for her 2024 debut. Chatalas, who is regularly trained by Mark Glatt, will be making her seasonal debut in the Indiana Oaks.

“The Indiana Derby is scheduled as the 12th race on Saturday’s card, with a post time of 6:41 p.m. EDT. Despite the disappointing absence of Sir Greylind, the race is sure to provide exciting action and drama for horse racing enthusiasts.”
