Equine Excitement on the Horizon: Kikkuli Poised for Glory in Upcoming Horse Racing Events

In the world of thoroughbred racing, all eyes are on the impeccably-bred colt Kikkuli, a half-brother to the legendary Frankel. After a close call at Royal Ascot, where he charged home to finish just a short head behind the dual Guineas-placed Haatem in the Jersey Stakes, the connections of Kikkuli are confident that the Kingman colt will have his moment of glory before the season is out.

Kikkuli’s recent outing in the prestigious Group One Prix Jean Prat at Deauville on Sunday saw him finish a respectable sixth, with jockey Ryan Moore at the reins. However, the young colt’s connections remain optimistic, as Barry Mahon, the racing manager to owner-breeder Juddmonte, explained.

“He was only beaten four lengths in the end and I think it was an OK run,” said Mahon. “In fairness he got quite a hefty bump mid-race, Ryan said it just set him alight and he pulled like a train for two furlongs in the middle of the race and that probably cost him at the end of the race.”

Despite the setback, Mahon expressed confidence in Kikkuli’s potential, stating, “He’s done a lot in a short space of time and Ryan was very complimentary โ€“ he said there’s a good horse in there. He’s just immature and it hasn’t quite happened yet, but it will happen and that experience will have brought him forward.”

With a well-deserved break planned for the remainder of July, the team behind Kikkuli is already looking ahead to the racing opportunities that August may bring. “I think he’ll have a little freshen up for the rest of July and we’ll see what there is for him in August,” Mahon revealed, hinting at the exciting prospects that lie ahead for this promising young colt.

Enthusiasts of the sport can keep a close eye on Kikkuli’s journey, as the equine superstar in the making prepares to make his mark on the horse racing world in the coming months.
