Mqse De Sevigne Aims for Deauville Double, Arc Finale for Legendary Trainer Andre Fabre
(Deauville, [Publication Date]) – In the world of horse racing, legendary French trainer Andre Fabre is setting his sights on a remarkable feat with his talented mare Mqse De Sevigne. The five-year-old will attempt to repeat her Deauville double of last year by winning the prestigious Prix Jean Romanet before making a run at the coveted Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Mqse De Sevigne’s impressive form has continued this season, as she effortlessly secured the Prix Rothschild earlier this year, winning in even easier fashion than her previous triumph. Fabre, who has guided the mare’s career, believes she is only getting stronger with age. “I don’t know if she’s getting better, but she’s a year stronger and that brings improvement,” he said. “She won it easier this year and never looked in any trouble.”
The plan for Mqse De Sevigne is to compete in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville, a race she won last year, before taking on the challenge of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October. Fabre is confident in her ability to handle the longer distance, stating, “As she goes on any sort of ground I have no worries on that score, she’s won on soft ground before.”
Fabre also has another strong contender for the Arc in the form of Sosie, who finished third in the French Derby and recently impressed with a victory in the Grand Prix de Paris. “She’s an obvious candidate for the Arc, as is Sosie. He’s very well and he’ll go for a traditional prep race at Longchamp, the Prix Niel,” said the trainer.
“Junko finished ahead of Goliath earlier in the season in the Grand Prix de Chantilly,” Fabre noted. “Goliath was suited by the crazy pace at Ascot, but he is a good horse for sure. Junko won’t run until towards the end of the year, I’m half-thinking of the Japan Cup or Hong Kong Cup.”
As the racing season reaches its peak, the eyes of the horse racing world will be firmly fixed on Fabre’s stable and the exploits of Mqse De Sevigne as she aims to etch her name further into the history books.
