Horse Racing News: Magical Zoe Secures Melbourne Cup Berth with Ebor Victory
In a thrilling display at the York Racecourse, Magical Zoe secured her ticket to the coveted Melbourne Cup with a dominant victory in the Sky Bet Ebor, the richest handicap race in the UK. Trained by Henry De Bromhead and owned by the jubilant duo of Patrick and Scott Bryceland, the 11/2 favorite filly made light work of the field, crossing the line with authority.
“It’s amazing, a race that you grow up watching and I probably never dreamt I could win it but here we are, we’ve won it,” a delighted De Bromhead said after the race.
The winning connections were already planning their trip to Melbourne, with co-owner Paddy Bryceland confirming, “Melbourne? That’s the plan. She’s a very, very lucrative mare. Whether we go there we’re not 100% decided yet, but it’s on the agenda.”
The Ebor Victory and the Melbourne Cup
The Ebor victory secured Magical Zoe a spot in the prestigious Melbourne Cup, the race that “stops a nation.” This year’s edition will see the Irish powerhouses take on the best of the international competition, with De Bromhead’s charge set to join the likes of City Of Troy (Ballydoyle) and Vauban (Lonsdale) in the quest for the coveted Australian prize.

As the autumnal conditions settled in, the stage was set for some thrilling action, and Magical Zoe’s triumph has certainly added to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming Melbourne Cup carnival.
