Mnementh Poised for Heavy Track Dominance in Upcoming Race Fixtures

Mitch Beer, the renowned horse racing trainer, is confident that his stable star Mnementh is primed to excel on heavy tracks and will seek the wettest conditions possible this Saturday, with a final decision on the horse’s race venue to be made on Wednesday.

In a recent interview, Beer highlighted Mnementh’s impressive record on heavy surfaces, having won all three of his starts on such tracks, including a Listed victory in the Bob Charley AO Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill last start. The eight-year-old gelding is currently nominated for races at Sunshine Coast, Randwick, and Flemington this weekend, although Beer admits that a bid to defend his title in the Santa Ana Lane Sprint Series Final in Melbourne is unlikely due to the weather forecast.

“Just going to chase the rain, I’d say he’s probably a better chance of sticking here (Randwick) or going North than going to Melbourne, although it’s tempting, he won that race last year, it’s just up to the weather now,” Beer said.

With up to 48mm of rain predicted in Sydney and up to 64mm in Sunshine Coast this week, Beer is likely to run Mnementh over the 1400m distance for the first time in over two years, with the Listed Winter Stakes at Randwick and the Listed Glasshouse Handicap at Sunshine Coast being the two main options.

“Depending on barrier draws, I think Queensland we’d definitely be riding him quieter, 1400 up there they’ll run it pretty quick but Randwick, he’s such a versatile horse, having the ability to be on speed is a big asset for him and he just keeps grinding away.”

Mnementh, who has had a different jockey aboard in his past six wins, will have three different riders on standby for the upcoming races, with Nikita Beriman set to ride at Sunshine Coast, Tyler Schiller at Randwick, and Teo Nugent at Flemington.

The final decision on Mnementh’s race venue will be made on Wednesday, with the gelding currently priced at $11 (all-in) for both the Glasshouse Handicap and the Winter Stakes.
