Monmouth Park Gears Up for Busy Haskell Preview Day with Chad Brown’s Strong Stable Representation

(June 17, 2023 – Oceanport, NJ) – This Saturday’s Haskell Preview Day at Monmouth Park promises to be an action-packed event, with leading trainer Chad Brown entering a total of nine horses across the card’s four stakes races.

“It’s going to be a very busy day,” said Luis Cabrera, who oversees Brown’s division at the Jersey Shore track. “Chad has horses in all four of the stakes races, so we’re expecting a packed schedule.”

The spotlight will be on Brown’s Domestic Product in the $150,000 Pegasus Stakes, the final local prep for the Grade 1 Haskell Stakes on July 20. The Tampa Bay Derby winner, who finished 13th in the Kentucky Derby, will look to bounce back for jockey Flavien Prat.

“Chad hasn’t said much about the Derby, but we know he was wide most of the way,” Cabrera noted. “He’s been training well at Saratoga, and the distance of the Pegasus should suit him perfectly as we try to get him ready for the Haskell.”

Brown will also be well-represented in the other graded stakes on the card. In the Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes for fillies and mares, he’ll saddle Tax Implications and Maman Joon. The conditioner is also double-handed in the Grade 3 Monmouth Stakes, sending out Adhamo and Running Bee, while the powerful stable will cap its day with Artorius in the Grade 3 Salvator Mile.

“Chad is really looking forward to seeing what some of these horses can do,” Cabrera said. “We’ve got a lot of talent in the barn, and Saturday will be a great opportunity to showcase it on the big Haskell Preview stage.”

With the Haskell just over a month away, Saturday’s card at Monmouth Park promises to serve as an exciting precursor to one of the summer’s premier events on the horse racing calendar.
