National Treasure and Señor Buscador Remain Top U.S. Horses in World Racehorse Rankings

The latest edition of the world’s best racehorse rankings has been released, and National Treasure and Señor Buscador continue to be the only U.S.-based horses in the top 10.

Both horses are tied for sixth place in the rankings with a rating of 121. National Treasure, the 4-year-old Quality Road colt trained by Bob Baffert, earned his spot after winning the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational and the Met Mile (G1) this year. He also finished fourth in the Saudi Cup (G1).

Señor Buscador, trained by Todd Fincher, won the Saudi Cup and was second in the Pegasus World Cup. His most recent start was a third-place finish in the Dubai World Cup (G1).

At the top of the rankings, Dubai World Cup winner Laurel River retains the number one spot with a rating of 128. City of Troy and Rebel’s Romance remain tied for second place with a rating of 123.

Aidan O’Brien, the renowned Irish trainer, said the Breeders’ Cup Classic is a possibility for City of Troy, a Justify colt who won the Epsom Derby (G1) and the Eclipse (G1) in his last two starts.

Newcomers to the list include Auguste Rodin, winner of the Prince of Wales’s (G1), and Rosallion, winner of the St. James’s Palace (G1) and the Irish 2,000 Guineas in his last two starts. Both are tied for fourth place with a rating of 122.
