Exciting Victory for Al Basti Equiworld Dante Stakes Champion Economics

Brilliant three-year-old racehorse Economics, owned by Isa Salman Al Khalifa, is back in full training after his impressive win at the Al Basti Equiworld Dante Stakes in York. Trainer William Haggas is now considering several potential routes for the colt’s next starts, including a return to the Knavesmire racecourse.

Speaking on the Nick Luck Daily Podcast, Haggas expressed his enthusiasm for Economics’ future prospects, stating, “He’s a lovely horse, a great big horse, and not just a three-year-old, he’s going to be a four-year-old and maybe even a five-year-old, who knows.” The trainer believes the colt has plenty of room for improvement and is excited about his potential for the remainder of the season and beyond.

Haggas revealed that the connections are considering two key options for Economics’ next race – the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville on August 15th and the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes. However, the trainer also mentioned the possibility of a return to York, either for the Sky Bet York Stakes on July 27th or the Juddmonte International Stakes.

“The obvious fit is the Sky Bet York Stakes on 27th July, but if we don’t want to go there, we’ll go for the Juddmonte and he can do a racecourse gallop,” Haggas said. “But we have 86 miles of gallops in Newmarket when they’re all open, and if we can’t train them here, then it’s a poor do. I think just going to get the freshness out of him would do him some good.”

With several exciting options on the table, Haggas and the connections of Economics will have some crucial decisions to make in the coming weeks as they map out the colt’s path forward. Fans of horse racing will be eagerly awaiting the announcement of Economics’ next target, as the talented three-year-old continues to showcase his immense potential on the track.
