Neville Parnham’s Promising Juvenile Prospect, September Born, Set to Debut at Belmont

WA Hall of Fame trainer Neville Parnham is poised to unveil his latest juvenile talent at Belmont Racecourse on Saturday. The Playing God colt, September Born, is a full brother to the Group 1 champion and $1.7 million earner, Kay Cee, and is expected to follow in his sibling’s footsteps.

September Born will make his debut in the WA Racehorse Owners’ Association Plate (1000m), and Parnham believes he has a genuine talent on his hands.

“He’s come up well and is a nice horse,” Parnham said on Tabradio. “He’s trialled up good in both preps and is pretty bomb proof at the moment.”

The colt has had four trials across two preparations, with his most recent outing resulting in a close second-place finish to Repossession, a Sessions gelding trained by Chris and Michael Gangemi, who went on to win his debut at Belmont.

Parnham is excited to unveil his latest prospect, stating:

“He’s pretty handy. He’s obviously inexperienced as far as going to the racetrack on race day, but I think he’s a smart horse. He’ll only have one or two runs and hopefully be putting him away for the summer carnival. I think from what he has shown so far that he’s got enough ability to suggest he can measure up in some of those better races.”

September Born faces 10 opponents on debut and will jump from barrier six, with jockey Brad Parnham in the saddle. Punters have taken a liking to the colt, as he is currently the $3.30 betting app favorite, having firmed from an opening price of $4. God She’s Sassy sits second in the market at $3.90.

The comparison to his highly successful sister, Kay Cee, who retired three years ago with a record of seven wins and three placings from 20 starts, including a Group 1 triumph in the Northerly Stakes (1800m), a Group 2 Lee Steere (1400m), and three Listed race victories, sets high expectations for September Born’s future potential.
