Wathnan Racing’s Two-Year-Old Prospects Shine on Timeform Ratings
In the world of horse racing, Wathnan Racing has been making waves with their impressive team of two-year-olds. According to racing analyst Tony McFadden, the organization’s free-spending approach at the breeze-up sales earlier this year has already translated to early success on the track.
Of the nine juveniles who have run for Wathnan Racing so far this season, six have managed to win on their debuts. The operation, owned by the Emir of Qatar, came to prominence at Royal Ascot last year with victories for Gregory and Courage Mon Ami, and they have now bolstered their team ahead of this year’s fixture.
Standout Performances
One of the standout performers is Shadow Army, who won on debut at York. Sharing the same Timeform rating of 91p as Columnist, another Wathnan purchase, Shadow Army’s narrow success came in a more competitive five-furlong novice race, with the runner-up, Francisco’s Piece, going on to win a listed race in France.
Leovanni (89p), a £190,000 breeze-up buy trained by Karl Burke, put up one of the best debut performances by a juvenile filly in Britain this season, winning a race at Nottingham. Catalyse, purchased for £300,000, also impressed on his debut at Hamilton, quickening clear to justify his market position.
Aesterius (86p), the horse that got the Wathnan Racing breeze-up buys bandwagon rolling, made a winning debut at Bath last month, while Shareholder, the most expensive purchase at €460,000, narrowly prevailed in a conditions race at Beverley.
“With the organization’s juveniles already making a significant impact, racing enthusiasts will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Wathnan Racing’s two-year-olds as the season progresses and the build-up to Royal Ascot continues.”
