Royal Ascot Racing Report: Friday’s Entries Revealed
The fourth day of the prestigious Royal Ascot festival is set to take place this Friday, and racing enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the exciting lineup of events.
Coronation Stakes
In a surprise development, the highly-fancied Fallen Angel has been confirmed as a late withdrawal from the Coronation Stakes, a prestigious Group One contest for three-year-old fillies. Trainer Karl Burke’s Irish 1,000 Guineas winner had been widely tipped as a major contender, but will now miss the race.
With Fallen Angel’s absence, the betting markets have been shaken up, with Aidan O’Brien’s Opera Singer now installed as the new favorite. The Curragh third-place finisher will be looking to recapture her sparkling juvenile form. Other notable entries in the Coronation Stakes include Newmarket Guineas first and second-place finishers Elmalka and Porta Fortuna, as well as the French challenger Ramatuelle.
Commonwealth Cup
Elsewhere on the card, the Commonwealth Cup has attracted a top-class field, with the impressive Sandy Lane Stakes winner Inisherin supplemented at a cost of £46,000. Haydock runner-up Orne has also been added to the six-furlong Group One contest. Kevin Ryan’s Inisherin will be aiming to build on his convincing victory last month, while the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Vandeek will be looking to bounce back after an odds-on defeat last time out.
King Edward VII Stakes
The Group Two King Edward VII Stakes over a mile and a half has also seen some high-profile supplementary entries, with Royal Supremacy and Theory Of Tides joining the field. Aidan O’Brien, seeking his third win in the race in six years, has a strong team led by Agenda, Cambridge, and Illinois.
With a wealth of top-class equine talent on display, Friday’s action at Royal Ascot is shaping up to be a thrilling affair for horse racing enthusiasts. Stay tuned for all the latest updates, race results, and jockey profiles as the meeting continues.
