Saratoga’s Showcase for Three-Year-Old Sprinters

The summer’s premier event for three-year-old sprinters is set to take place on Saturday, August 24, at the historic Saratoga Race Course. The $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial, formerly known as the King’s Bishop Stakes, will feature a talented field of 11 horses going seven furlongs on the dirt.

The race, which has a rich history dating back to 1984, has seen some of the sport’s top sprinters emerge victorious over the years, including Housebuster, More Than Ready, Squirtle Squirt, Lost in the Fog, Hard Spun, Caleb’s Posse, Runhappy, Drefong, and Jackie’s Warrior. This year’s edition promises to be another thrilling showcase for the next generation of sprint stars.

Contenders for the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial

The morning-line favorite is Woody Stephens (G1) winner Book’em Danno, who is seeking to solidify his status as a leading contender for the sprint division. He will face a talented group, including the Bob Baffert-trained Prince of Monaco, who is looking to avenge his narrow defeat in the Woody Stephens, as well as graded stakes winners Timberlake, Domestic Product, and World Record.

The field also includes several promising up-and-comers, such as the undefeated Speak Easy, the lightly-raced but impressive Vettriano, and the versatile Otto the Conqueror. The race promises to be a wide-open affair, with several contenders capable of emerging victorious.

“This year’s H. Allen Jerkens Memorial is shaping up to be an exceptional showcase for the next generation of sprint stars,” said the race’s organizer. “Fans and bettors are in for a thrilling afternoon of high-quality competition.”

Fans and bettors can catch all the action live on FanDuel Racing and Fox, while wagers can be placed through the FanDuel Racing platform. The H. Allen Jerkens Memorial is carded as the 12th race on Saratoga’s blockbuster Travers Day program, with a post time of 5:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
