Test Stakes Prep Race Results

The contenders arrive at the Test Stakes off of varied preparations. Emery comes in off a narrow victory in the Grade 3 Victory Ride at Aqueduct, while My Mane Squeeze was fourth in the Grade 1 Acorn most recently. Denim and Pearls and Brightwork are hoping to rebound from off-the-board finishes in their previous starts.

The morning-line favorite, Ways and Means, gets a class test after winning a one-mile Saratoga allowance in her latest outing. Belle’s Blue Bell is the most experienced runner, having won the ungraded Maryfield Stakes at Monmouth Park in her last start.

Top Contenders to Watch

Emery has been dominant going sprint distances, with four wins in five career starts. Her lone defeat came when fourth in the Grade 1 Frizette, going a mile. Denim and Pearls is the other Brad Cox runner and looked like a rising star before a disappointing effort last out.

Ways and Means has faced tough competition, including seconds in the Grade 1 Spinaway and Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. My Mane Squeeze took the Grade 2 Eight Belles over a sloppy track and could benefit if wet conditions return. Brightwork, a Spinaway winner last year, is the wildcard making her 2024 debut.

It’s a wide-open renewal of the Test Stakes, providing an excellent betting opportunity for racing fans at Saratoga on August 3rd. Don’t miss the excitement as the sophomore filly sprinters take center stage!
