The New York Racing Association is set to offer a captivating all-stakes Whitney weekend filled with top-tier turf racing action. The highlight will be a special all-turf Pick 5 wager, linking races from both Friday and Saturday at the historic Saratoga Race Course.
The Whitney weekend all-turf Pick 5, featuring a 50-cent base and 15 percent takeout, will kick off on Friday evening in Race 8 at 5:10 p.m. EDT. The sequence begins with the Grade 2 Saratoga Oaks Invitational for 3-year-old fillies at 1 3/16 miles on the Mellon turf course, followed by the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame (G2) for 3-year-olds going one mile on the inner turf.
The wager will conclude on Saturday’s stacked 13-race Whitney day card, featuring the Saratoga Derby Invitational (G1) at 1 3/16 miles on the outer turf, the listed Lure Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on the inner turf for older horses, and the Troy (G2) at 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf for older competitors.
In addition to the all-turf Pick 5, Saturday’s Whitney program will offer five other Pick 5 sequences, each with a 15 percent takeout. These include the traditional early and late Pick 5s, as well as three middle Pick 5s with mandatory payouts, covering races 3-7, 5-9, and an all-stakes edition for races 7-11.
The all-stakes Pick 5 on Saturday kicks off with the Saratoga Derby Invitational, followed by the Test (G1), the Lure, the Troy, and concluding with the featured Grade 1 Whitney Stakes โ a nine-furlong test for older horses offering a “Win and You’re In” berth to the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November at Del Mar.
