See The Fire Triumphs in Sky Bet Strensall Stakes at Ebor Festival
In a thrilling display of horsemanship and equine prowess, See The Fire emerged victorious in the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes at the prestigious Sky Bet Ebor Festival held at York Racecourse. The three-year-old filly, trained by Andrew Balding, navigated her way through a competitive field to secure a comfortable one and three-quarter length win, with Phantom Flight finishing second and Checkandchallenge taking third.
Jockey Oisin Murphy expertly guided See The Fire, who had previously competed in Group One company, threading her way through the pack and hugging the inside rail to make her decisive move in the straight. The filly’s impressive turn of foot allowed her to reel in her rivals and cross the finish line with her ears pricked, showcasing her dominant performance.
“She was brilliant in the Nassau the last day and her work since has been great, she’s been working with older horses that are in good form and finding it very easy,” remarked Murphy after the race. “I wasn’t going to sit three wide on her, I wanted to get cover and maybe have horses to fill up onto the back of before finding space. Arguably I was fortunate it opened up on the inside, but I felt that’s what happened.”
Trainer Andrew Balding expressed his delight in See The Fire’s triumph, saying, “We’ve always thought the world of this filly. She’s beautiful to look at, she’s always worked well and I’ve just got to thank David Elsworth for retiring when he did because I’ve reaped the rewards of having the mare’s progeny!”
The victory cemented See The Fire’s status as a rising star in the racing world, and punters who backed the 3/1 favorite were rewarded with a well-deserved payout. With the Ebor Festival now concluded, the attention of the horse racing community turns to the upcoming autumn racing calendar, where See The Fire and other talented contenders will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the track.
