Horse Racing News: Super Screener Scores Big with 10-1 Winner in California Dreamin Stakes

The Super Screener has been on a scorching hot streak this summer, and the momentum continued last week with a 10-1 winner in the California Dreamin Stakes. This came just one week after the Super Screener picked against the odds-on favorite Arabian Lion in the San Diego, cashing in on a 3-1 win and a lucrative 39-1 exacta.

Now, the Super Screener is setting its sights on this weekend’s action, with a focus on the Sorrento Stakes, a Grade 3 event for 2-year-old fillies taking place at Del Mar on Saturday. While the field may be small, with only five horses entered, Super Screener’s Mike Shutty believes there is great value to be found, particularly with Vodka With a Twist at 6-1 on the morning line.

“Vodka With a Twist will likely see them all early, but should be within three lengths of the pace,” Shutty writes. “As these babies take on more ground, all-out speed becomes secondary to a balanced Energy Distribution Profile. Vodka With a Twist exemplifies the type of filly who will come out victorious in these types of two-year-old stakes as the year progresses.”

Shutty notes that Vodka With a Twist already has a win at the Sorrento’s distance of 6 1/2 furlongs, and more importantly, has shown an ideal balance in how she distributes her energy, suggesting she’ll be able to finish strongly as her rivals tire.

In terms of wagering strategy, Shutty is keeping it simple, recommending a win bet on Vodka With a Twist and a backup exacta using Nooni.

But the Super Screener’s expertise doesn’t stop there. Shutty also highlights the wealth of information available for all the top stakes races this weekend, including the Grade 1 action at both Colonial Downs and Saratoga on Sunday.

Bettors looking to take their game to the next level would be wise to take advantage of the Super Screener’s Breeders’ Cup package, which includes the Super Screener’s weekly insights, as well as Power Picks and Horses to Single Reports every day, now through the Breeders’ Cup.
