Horse Racing News: Field Of Gold Aims to Continue Gosden’s Solario Stakes Dominance at Sandown

The feature action this Saturday takes place at Beverley and Sandown, with some exciting contenders set to grace the tracks.

At Sandown, Field Of Gold Seeks to Add to Gosden’s Solario Stakes Legacy

At Sandown, Field Of Gold will be following in the hoofprints of some illustrious winners if he can add to trainer John Gosden’s record tally in the Group Three Sky Bet Solario Stakes. Gosden, who now trains in partnership with his son Thady, has saddled six previous winners of this prestigious contest, including Breeders’ Cup Classic hero Raven’s Pass (2007) and top-class milers Kingman (2013) and Too Darn Hot (2018).

Field Of Gold, a son of Gosden’s former star Kingman, will be looking to take the next step up the ladder after making a winning debut at Newmarket. Juddmonte’s European racing manager Barry Mahon said:

“He seems in good form and John and Thady are happy with him. This is the next step up and we’re looking forward to seeing if we’re up to this level.”

Chief among Field Of Gold’s rivals are the unbeaten Royal Playwright, trained by Andrew Balding, and Matauri Bay from the Ralph Beckett yard. Oisin Murphy, who partners Royal Playwright, is excited about the prospects of the well-bred colt, while Alex Elliott, racing adviser to Matauri Bay’s owners, is hoping for a strong showing that will map out the rest of the year.

Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes Attracts Strong Contenders

Over at Beverley, sprint star Blue Storm will be aiming to land the Listed William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes for trainer Gemma Tutty. The Blue Point colt has been in excellent form this year, finishing a close second at Royal Ascot last time out, and Tutty is confident he can make his class tell despite being “a gallop short” in his preparations.

Clarendon House, trained by Robert Cowell, and Democracy Dilemma, from the yard of Michael Dods, provide strong challenges, while the evergreen Emaraaty Ana and the progressive Staincliff also line up in what promises to be a thrilling renewal of the Beverley Bullet.

Tamfana Drops in Class for Sky Bet Atalanta Stakes at Sandown

At Sandown, the Sky Bet Atalanta Stakes sees the drop in class and distance for the David Menuisier-trained Tamfana, who has been placed in Classics on both sides of the Channel this season. Trainer Menuisier and jockey Oisin Murphy are hopeful the mile trip will suit the daughter of Soldier Hollow, with the Ralph Beckett-trained Doha among her main rivals as she bids to get her head in front at the top level.

It’s set to be an action-packed day of Horse Racing News, with some intriguing storylines and competitive contests unfolding at Beverley and Sandown. Stay tuned for all the latest updates and results from these exciting fixtures.
