Preakness Winner Seize the Grey and Kentucky Oaks Winner Thorpedo Anna Lead Saturday’s Graded Stakes Works
(June 18, 2023 – Horse Racing News) On Saturday, Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Seize the Grey and Kentucky Oaks (G1) champion Thorpedo Anna were among 71 graded stakes winners that put in workouts across North America.
Seize the Grey, the upset winner of the Preakness Stakes, had his first work since finishing seventh in the Belmont Stakes (G1). The Arrogate colt covered four furlongs in a sharp 47.2 seconds at Churchill Downs, which was the fourth fastest of 150 works on the day.
Thorpedo Anna, a two-time Grade 1 winner, worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Saratoga. The Fast Anna filly’s drill was the third fastest of 40 works at that distance as she prepares for her next start.
Other notable works included:
- Starting Over, winner of the Mac Diarmida (G2), went five furlongs in 1:02.0 at Belmont Park.
- Fluffy Socks, a two-time Grade 2 victor, covered four furlongs in 49.5 at Belmont.
- Occult, winner of the Monmouth Oaks (G3), worked four furlongs in 49.2 at Belmont.
