Horse Racing News Update: Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Attracts Top Contenders
The stage is set for an exciting showdown at this Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, the final Group One race of the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting. All the major contenders have stood their ground, ensuring a thrilling contest is in store.
Prominent Contenders
Ralph Beckett’s Kinross, Jane Chapple-Hyam’s Mill Stream, and Archie Watson’s Shartash are among the prominent names in the betting, as they look to unseat last year’s 80-1 surprise winner, Charlie Hills’ Khaadem, who is back to defend his title.
Joining the fray are Tim Easterby’s Art Power, a winner at the track on Champions Day, and Mitbaahy, a stablemate of Khaadem.
Jersey Stakes
The Jersey Stakes also promises to be a cracking renewal, with Richard Hannon’s Haatem, who has been placed in both the Guineas at Newmarket and the Irish version, set to don new silks for the first time as part of his recent acquisition by Wathnan Racing. He will be ridden by James Doyle and will face stiff competition from the likes of Task Force, Evade, Indian Run, and Frankel’s half-brother Kikkuli.
Hardwicke Stakes
In the Hardwicke Stakes, all eyes will be on last year’s St Leger winner, Continuous, as he makes his comeback after a long layoff. The William Haggas-trained Desert Hero, a famous winner of the King and Queen at last year’s meeting, could also be back in action, with John and Thady Gosden’s Middle Earth emerging as another leading contender.
Additionally, Missed The Cut, a Royal Ascot winner for George Boughey in 2022, could represent American trainer John Sadler, the man responsible for recent US superstar Flightline.
With a stellar lineup of talented racehorses and experienced jockeys, this year’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes and supporting card are set to captivate horse racing enthusiasts across the globe.
