The Ohio Derby
The highlight of the day is the Grade 3, $500,000 Ohio Derby, which has drawn a field of 10 promising 3-year-olds. Among the contenders are several horses that made waves on the 2024 Kentucky Derby trail, including Catching Freedom, the winner of the Louisiana Derby (G2) who went on to finish fourth in the Kentucky Derby and third in the Preakness Stakes. Also in the mix is Uncle Heavy, who captured the Withers (G3) at Aqueduct.
The Lady Jacqueline Stakes
In the $250,000 Lady Jacqueline Stakes, a wide-open field of 10 older female runners will vie for top honors. The race features four evenly matched contenders, including Corningstone, who will ship in from the barn of trainer Kenny McPeek, and Misty Veil, trained by Mike Maker.
