Royal Ascot Raceday Recap: Mitbaahy Triumphs in Jubilee Stakes, Ferrous Excels in Wokingham
The curtain came down on the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting in style on Saturday, with a trio of strong selections from our form expert proving successful.
Mitbaahy Wins the Jubilee Stakes
In the feature Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, MITBAAHY powered home for a career-best victory under the expert guidance of jockey Jamie Spencer. The improving four-year-old, trained by Charlie Hills for owner Mrs Fitri Hay, showcased his late turn of foot to overhaul the well-backed favorite Mill Stream in a thrilling finish. This win continued the connections’ fine record in the race, having tasted success here 12 months ago.
Ferrous Excels in the Wokingham Handicap
The Wokingham Handicap provided another highlight, with FERROUS giving a commanding front-running display to land the prestigious sprint for trainer Jack Channon. The gelding, who has improved significantly since his gelding operation, proved too strong for his rivals, justifying our e/w recommendation at 20/1.
Palace Green Caps Off a Superb Day
In the penultimate event, the Golden Gates Handicap, PALACE GREEN capped off a superb day for our tipping team. Oisin Murphy produced the Sea The Moon gelding with a perfectly-timed challenge to deny the fast-finishing favorites and register a hard-fought success for Qatar Racing and trainer Richard Hughes.
“This action-packed finale to Royal Ascot 2024 will live long in the memory of racing fans, with our form expert’s selections delivering a clean sweep of winners on the final day. An excellent end to a tremendous week of top-class thoroughbred action.”
