Trainers Clinton McDonald and Luke Oliver Face Irregularities in Horse Racing Samples
In the latest news from the horse racing scene, Racing Victoria stewards have informed trainers Clinton McDonald and Luke Oliver of irregularities in recent test samples from their horses.
A pre-race blood test from McDonald’s horse, Flying On A Limb, which finished unplaced at Flemington in April, showed the presence of triamcinolone acetonide, an anti-inflammatory substance that is banned on race day.
Similarly, Oliver’s filly, Hey Bella, tested positive for dexamethasone in a post-race urine sample after winning a maiden event at Cranbourne in April. Dexamethasone, used for treating allergic reactions and inflammatory diseases, is also prohibited on race day.
“Confirmatory tests have upheld the initial findings in both cases. While no charges have been filed yet, the stewards are continuing their investigations and have notified both trainers that the matter remains under close scrutiny.”
